We have been to Julia Beall's a few times and have loved it in the past. We have not been there since they moved. The food and service was still excellent, but we really loved the borderline surreal atmosphere of their last location so we kind of missed that. Still, an excellent overall experience.

Wow! What a find. Ran into my brother on the road and we had dinner together. Wandered into Julia Belle's for some southern cooking. Very good food! Southern fried chicken breast and REAL mashed taters with slow cooked green beans. Did I mention it came with a homemade biscuit and milk/bacon gravy. Stop in for lunch or dinner. You will love the food and the smiles.

This is the place for southern comfort food that sets a very high bar on all levels. I knew we had come to the right place when I tasted the tea. Not a mix nor out of a bottle, but someone that knew what they are doing brewed that tea! The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are giving southern hospitality that felt like a hug. My husband and I had the Blue Plate specials with three sides. It was more than either of us could eat. For plates costing less than $15, the quality and value were outstanding. I would have paid more and not thought it excessive. The format is to order at the counter, take your drinks and a number to your table and then your meal is brought to you after they cook it up fresh. My husband had the country fried pork chops (tasted like my mother's, and she made the best.) His sides were green beans, rice and gravy, and braised cabbage with bacon. While I had the chicken-fried chicken, along with collards (I am posting the pot liquor because IYKNK), sweet potato fries, and coleslaw. My plate came with gravy that I had put on the side because I expected the normal pasty white gravy. Goodness what a surprise the gravy turned out to be! Yes, it was a white-ish gravy (more golden actually), but it was ham-based and the flavor knocked my hat in the creek! Literally could have eaten the gravy with a spoon like soup and been perfectly content. Both plates came with a homemade biscuit that was light and buttery, with just the right amount of crispiness on top. The food was hot and seasoned perfectly. Someone in that kitchen truly knows how to throw down southern cooking like a pro. As I left to go back to the car, my heart and tummy were full, because it sure felt like I had just been to my grandmother's house.

This is such a sweet spot! Proudly Family-Owned, they strive to create a welcoming atmosphere. Even though you order at the counter and take it to your seat, they come around continually to check if you are doing okay or need anything. The food is very tasty. Prices are on point. Bathrooms are clean. Parking lot is a little tight and difficult to navigate but give it a second and you're fine.

This place has great Southern cooking in a casual atmosphere. It is convenient to many of the hotels off Route 95. So, many diners are travelers. But, there are also many locals who return often. The menu is limited, which actually is good because they know how to prepare Low Country dishes and do not try to do other things. Upon entering, you go to the counter and order (like in a fast food place). Most orders come with choice of a side and a large biscuit. Prices are very reasonable. For example, the delicious blackened catfish I had (with sweet potato fries) was only $13.99. One orders and gets a number and then the food is delivered to your table. A tip bucket is near the register. I look forward to eating here when I stay in Florence. Try it, you won't regret it.
